Fabric Guide for UK Weather

Aik Atelier has fabrics that are suitable for British weather. Here's what we stock and when to wear each:

Silk The largest fabric category of Aik Atelier. Tussar silk specifically which has a slightly textured finish rather than the shiny look. You can wear tussar silk any time of the year but especially good for heated indoor events in winter. It is breathable enough to maintain temperature.

Velvet The winter wedding fabric. Aik Atelier's velvet has proper weight which makes it warm enough for December events but not so heavy that you're uncomfortable. Deep colours like maroon, emerald green, and black included here.

Lawn These are summer dresses. They are lightweight, breathable, perfect for warmer months. These include printed designs rather than heavy embroidery.

Karandi That fabric between casual and formal dresses. Karandi is slightly textured with a little shine. Good for winter events where you cannot wear "velvet formal dresses" but need something nicer than khaddar.

Chiffon This fabric is for formal and floaty dresses. It usually comes with lining so you get the elegant drape without transparency issues. This is the most demamded and premium fabric and great for spring and autumn weddings.

Signature Styles

Aik Atelier is known for specific styles that keep repeating each season:

Long Shirt with Sharara Their bestseller. The proportions are proper where shirt is about mid-thigh and sharara has enough flare to look like a lehnga skirt. It works for most body types and best for plus size women.

Farshi Gharara Dresses Floor length gharara with embroidered shirts. These are formal outfits for proper formal event that looks elegant.

Angrakha Cuts That wrap front style with the diagonal tie. Aik Atelier does these with crushed shararas or skirts. Very feminine, very classic.

Kalidaar Frocks These are full, flowing frocks with volume. They are often paired with crushed skirts for extra movement. This design is great if you want something that makes an entrance.

Peshwas The traditional long frock style is peshwas. Aik Atelier's Peshwas versions come with Izhaar pants. It gives you that regal look without being too bridal.
